On May 20, 2017, the community descended on the Reichart family farm to honor Captain Brian Reichart, who is currently battling stage four lymphoma. With a community in the lead, we were able to complete a project that Captain Reichart started … restoration of a family barn. Those who attended the event enjoyed an old fashion pig roast with all the fixings! A bake table was organized by friends and neighbors. At noon, the flag ceremony took place to officially raise a flag on the newly installed flagpole. Guest speakers and passionate advocates for our veterans, Susan Byrnes (York County Commissioner) and Terry Gendron (Director of York County Veteran Affairs) provided heartfelt remarks to Captain Reichart, honoring his service at Arlington National Cemetery. Hanover Young Marines respectfully raised the flag while the National Anthem was beautifully sung by Brooke Unger. Gifts from the local community were presented to Captain Reichart and the ceremony ended with the song “Arlington” by Trace Adkins. There was not a dry eye on the property! Operation Restoration was truly one for the memory books .
If you were not able to attend the event, you may still contribute to the cause! Mark your donation for Operation Restoration. The Reichart family has asked that additional donations made to the cause be used to “pay it forward” to assist other veterans, active duty or military families in need.
